September 11th...

Never will forget...

=================================================

Went knitting at Baa Baa this morning.
Had to buy 2 16" needles (size 2 and 5) to knit a hat for a friend.
Ran errands. Prepping to make strawberry-jalapeno jam tomorrow.
Need to pick up herbs and flowers from one gal and
a ceramic chicken dish from another gal.
Had a slice of pizza for supper...stomach hurt!
Can't eat pizza!

and...
Homemade Laundry Soap...Done!

(Now if the lid would just fit!!!)

Oh...and a friend says I need this shirt:

September 9th and 10th...

Sept. 9th..........

Made ears for 1st Bear Cowl, and 1/3 done on 2nd cowl. Got another order for 2 Cream Color Bear Cowls as well...will be working on 6 cowls thus far.

Selling at $40 each in time for Christmas.

Bear Cowl for 10 yr old is done. I now have 3 adult ones in the same charcoal grey, 2 cream colors, and possibly more.

======================
Went to put the chickens in the coop for the night and Ouiser was already in at the top where they roost. Had to get the other 2 in there. Hoping she can coax them to climb up the ladder as well.

==========================

Sept. 10th.........

Today- (a more relaxed day for me):
1. Pot Roast is in the crock pot for supper. Added frozen green beans, sliced onions and Italian Dressing.
2. Need to continue crocheting cowls today.
3. Want to make Strawberry-Jalapeno Jam...need to get jalapenos first.
4. Surfing Pinterest...ideas.

Making homemade dishwasher paste x 2. This is the BEST stuff and gets our dishes spotlessly clean and helps the dishwasher smell clean also. I have to shake it, invert it, let it sit, do it again and then blend it in the jars w/ the Bullet Blender blades.

Next up: Homemade Laundry Soap.

Oh...and...The chickens put themselves into the coop and are on their roosts...
all by themselves tonight! Yay!

September 8th...

Went out in the pouring rain to let the chickens out into their run. Thankful that we covered the run w/ corrugated roofing. They are dry, have food and water, and can stretch their legs.

James and I still have to train them how to get in and out of their coop.
They are unsure of everything still.

Brig teaches PMan how to bake cupcakes.
PMan read all the ingredients and directions too.

September 7, 2014

This afternoon happenings...

From changing table to Potting table...
Repurposed the old changing table my father built and all 5 minions used.
Now it's a potting table and will also hold firewood for our Chimenia.

working on commissioned work...

Canned 8 pints of Honey Applesauce today too!
.

Update on coop and run...

UPDATE:

The pink mirror is a hit w/ the ladies. They love to look at themselves. Got the logs cut into stumps...now they can perch on them and the waterer is up off the ground and should stay cleaner. The chickens are not used to the ramps, so James and I will have to train them each day until they can climb in and out like they are supposed to do.

Still have to plant lots of fly repelling herbs and flowers around the coop.

September 7th...

Chickens are loving their new home. Yay!!!

James found some logs he will cut for perches and one to lift the water tank.
Sweet!

Rise and Shine!

Inside:
top = roost
middle = food/water
bottom = nesting box

Nesting box...

Run has water as well as inside...

Going to add pots to these and hang in the run
for grit, calcium, treats and herbs...

Ladder from coop to run...

See the water bottle and feeder on the door?
When we close the door, they have their 'kitchen' ready...

They love the Run...
I'm going to plant some Calendula and
bushy fly repellant bushes, plants, flowers around the run
.

Such a nice breeze for them today. Great day for them to move in!

September 6th...

Got 2 baskets of apples. Went through 1 basket. Got applesauce in the crock to can,
4 trays in the dehydrator, 1 gallon bag into a cobbler (baking now)
and 2 gallon bags are in the freezer.

Meatloaves are in the oven. Cobbler is done.
Need to sterilize jars for canning applesauce.
Looks like herb planting will be tomorrow, along with grocery shopping.
James and I are exhausted.

Our 20th Anniversary...
We are pretty boring. Went out to YNot Pizza to eat supper.
I could only eat a small portion of one meatball.
James had a Southwestern Salad.

We drove around Ghent, looked at houses,
went to a few thrift stores,
came home and are 'vegged out' to TV.

But....we are happy. 20 years. Love this man!
