Update Weight Loss Surgery info...
Dr. Fontana thinks I'll do better w/ the Gastric Sleeve instead of the Bypass. He said they generally use Bypass for patients with Diabetes and/or High Cholesterol and I have neither. He said I have a few classes to attend and then they can schedule a surgery date.
BTW...I lost 5 more pounds!
1.) Information Session for Sentara -done (had that tonight!)
2.) Insurance Program Fee $195 (Chesapeake didn't have this) and Appointment w/ new Surgeon- calling in the morning
3.) Medical Studies- done
4.) Education Programs- alt...hough done via Chesapeake, I now have to go through Sentara's programs...ugh!
5.) Pre- Auth for Surgery- as soon as they call
6.) Pre- Surgical Visit- as soon as they call

Surgery stuff...
Now that I have to make the switch to Norfolk General instead of Chesapeake General...here's what's added on my TO DO list BEFORE they will schedule me for my surgery.
1.) Information Session for Sentara -done (had that tonight!)
2.) Insurance Program Fee $195 (Chesapeake didn't have this) and Appointment w/ new Surgeon- calling in the morning
3.) Medical Studies- done
4.) Education Programs- alt...hough done via Chesapeake, I now have to go through Sentara's programs...ugh!
5.) Pre- Auth for Surgery- as soon as they call
6.) Pre- Surgical Visit- as soon as they call
IF they are kind to me and give me early Doctor appointments and get ALL my paperwork from Chesapeake General, Docs, etc... I should be ready early June...otherwise it could take MONTHS! One good note: The Psych is the SAME person I have already seen...whew!!!!

Been on the phone ALL morning (and still on my phone), making phone calls regarding switching my surgery over to Sentara now, since Chesapeake didn't have a clue as to what was going on fo...r the last 2 months!!!
I had to contact:
1. Psychologist-for record of evaluation
2. GYN- for Pap Smear and Colonoscopy test results
3. Mid Atlantic Imaging- for Mammogram results
4. Set Life -for a 2 month REFUND ($88) for now not using their facilities for exercise AFTER surgery- which Sentara will more than likely have me use their facility instead.
Still waiting on GYN and SET LIFE to call me back.....argh!!!!
Have to make a run to the Post Office and stop by the store to pick up a few things....do not want to take phone calls from Docs during these errands, since all my paperwork is on my desk. Come on people! Call Back!!!!

A kink in the chain....
Got a phone call that changed things a bit. Dr. Spencer's Office called. Apparently BC/BS insurance covers only Blue Distinction Facilities (Places of Excellence they have certified), and Chesapeake General Hospital is NOT one of those facilities, yet. I NOW have to see if the Bariatric Docs at Sentara can schedule me In for surgery, since they are a Blue Distinction Facility. Dr. Spencer's office... will release ALL info, but I need a separate release for Psych.
Not too happy about this. Not understanding why it took them 2 months to find this out and why that even really matters, but thus is what happened and now I have to make a switch. Good News, she said is that ALL my work is done and I am ready for surgery. Just need to meet with new Doctor and transfer paperwork. Argh!!!!
