Outside my window... my garden is blooming wildly.
I am thinking... I need to get knitting on my February Lady Sweater now!!!
I am thankful for... my sweet family.
From the kitchen...the smell of last night’s Italian Chicken still lingers in the air.
I am wearing... cropped pants and an old tee (I really need to dye).
I am creating... some Scrabble jewelry.
I am going... to take Porter to his OT this morning, take the kids to the library, and then work on the jewelry.
I am reading... The Well Trained Mind (homeschooling).
I am hoping... to find jewelry bails and black safety eyes this week!
I am hearing... the boys playing Xbox and Porter on the DS.
Around the house... Carson is sleeping in, while everyone else is awake.
One of my favorite things... tissues…my allergies are bad right now.
A few plans for the rest of the week... Mon.-take Cameron to football, Tues- knit at Ashley’s, Tues. night-go to Grace’s for ‘girl’s night’, Wed-watch the kids for Liz, Wed. night-Potluck w/ the Nelson’s, Thur.-Carson’s birthday, Thur. night- Knit Wits, Fri.- clean house/shop for food, Sat.-4th of July w/ family.

yarn love...

I have this 'thing' for cotton yarn...more specifically; Lily's Sugar -n- Cream.
Michael's had a sale on this wonderful cotton yarn...$1 a skein, so I stocked up on 48 skeins (36 one day...went back for 12 more another)and still kick myself for not stocking up even more at that price!!! I really need approx. 12 skeins per sweater...just to be safe.
Going to have to venture out and see if I can 'score' more Lily's Sugar -n- Cream today.

It's a knitter's abacus. Throw out your red dangling stitch counter, this bracelet is prettier. Let me explain real quick-like: those little green beads? They count for one row, and there are nine of them. The larger beads count for ten rows. You slip the beads through that little elastic ring of beads as you go. If you have three large beads and two small beads on the Big Bead side, you're on row 32. They're trapped close to the big bead, so your count is safe, even when you take the bracelet off (which you won't want to do). You can count up to one hundred rows, the same amount as those ugly plastic counters. On your wrist! Pretty! (Plus, there's a hook for holding stitch markers! I'm dying here.)

TACA 2009 'Real Help Now' Campaign...
I belong to TACA-Talk About Curing Autism (Virginia Chapter).
My son, Porter has Autism. We have seen Porter grow and start to heal through the GFCF diet, biomeds, supplements, probiotics and much more. We want to continue to see him grow and develop and need your support.

Porter's surgery day...
I finished Porter's Monkey at CHKD while we waited for the Surgeon to arrive. Porter named him "PJ".
Porter did very well and the surgery was fast (replacing the old central line with a new one and to the opposite side of his chest).
Porter recovered easily once they gave him some more meds and started asking to "Go Home!" after about an hour...but, it took them until almost 3:00pm to release us, because the Surgeon had to look at Porter's XRays to make sure his lungs were clear and if the line was in place. His chest is sore and very sensative, but should be fine in a few days. He's on Motrin for pain (as we opted out of the Tylenol w/ codeine).
He's on 'rest' for 2 weeks...uh huh...right. Ever try to make a hyper active child rest? Just so happy it all went well and it's over.

strawberries...
This past Saturday I took Cameron & Carson strawberry picking. It rained quite a bit, so we waited under the tent until it cleared enough to pick...we still got plenty wet though. They loved it!
We came home and washed and prepared the berries. We made freezer jam, a strawberry pie, strawberry popsicles and we even froze some for smoothies and still have almost 1 qt. leftover for cereal. YUM!

Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival...
We leave tomorrow...Ashley, Erin, Joy & Myself...10am...to Maryland to attend the annual Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival. Fairgrounds in West Friendship should be quite soggy, since we are expecting a rainstorm. (might need an ark!)
So, I bought a new pair of Rain Boots...
....AND a matching Umbrella....yea me!

knitting and the news...
I was interviewed tonight by our local Channel 13 News regarding Craigs List...I'll be on at 11pm. We had a Yarn MeetUp at Elliott's Coffee House tonight and in walks the Channel 13 News crew interviewing people about 'online dating' via Craigslist...they filmed us knitting and crocheting and all my friends giggled as I got interviewed. When it was over I jokingly told the news reporter that I had no problems being on TV, because, afterall, I 'came out' in High School when I said; "Mom, Dad...I'm a Thespian.".....silence and then laughter and we all rushed home to watch the news to see if I got any air time. 9 minutes to go and we'll see if my drama classes paid off. hehehe!

Baskin-Robbins third annual 31 Cent Scoop Night will be held on Wednesday April 29 from 5 – 10 p.m. All 2.5 oz. scoops of ice cream are only 31 cents! Treat your family or group to a scoop and a fun night out for just a few dollars.
This year, Baskin-Robbins is partnering with the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) and donating $100,000 to support the National Junior Firefighter Program. Many Baskin-Robbins location will be inviting local firefighters to help scoop ice cream at the events and offer fire safety tips to kids.
As part of the event, Baskin-Robbins will make a $100,000 donation to the NVFC National Junior Firefighter Program, which provides departments and youth alike with the resources, tools, and information they need to help develop, grow, enhance, promote, and participate in their local junior firefighter program.
Participating Baskin-Robbins stores will help raise additional funds for local firehouses by inviting fire departments to the event to collect donations.

Fresh Tomato Pie...
Fresh Tomato Pie (here's the recipe):
You need-
Pastry for a 1-crust 9-inch pie, unbaked
evaporated milk
4 cups sliced firm ripe tomatoes
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon dried leaf basil
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
1 large clove garlic, smashed and minced
Line pie plate with pastry; flute edges and brush shell with evaporated milk. Bake at 450° for 5 minutes. Fill the baked pie shell with sliced tomatoes and sprinkle with salt, pepper, and basil. Combine mayonnaise, Parmesan cheese, and minced garlic; spread over the layer of tomatoes. Bake at 350° for 35 to 45 minutes, or until tomatoes are cooked and pie is done.
